“The Marines have landed . . .” A saying popularized by 19th century war correspondent Richard H. Davis, conveying Marines arriving on scene and taking charge. A fitting saying for how six well known military colleges in the U.S. are now under the direction of U.S. Marine generals.
Lt. Gen. Michael Borgschulte – United States Naval Academy class of 91’ and current superintendent
Gen. Glenn Walters – The Citadel class of 79’ and current president of the college.
Lt. Gen. David Furness – Virginia Military Institute class of 87’ and current superintendent of VMI.
Lt. Gen. James W. Bierman – Commandant of Cadets at Texas A&M University. Bierman graduated from VMI in 1987.
LtGen John Broadmeadow – Norwich University class of 1983 and current president of the university.
Maj. Gen. William H. Seely - Commandant of Cadets at Virginia Tech. Seely graduated from George Washington University in 1989.
Current Commandant of the Marine Corps General Eric Smith also graduated from Texas A&M, class of 87’.
